Clorox Wipes Containter or Learning Toys???(It's a trick Question)

Well, this post was inspired by another real life event. I pulled the last Clorox wipe out of the container and thought, "Hmmm, now what do I do with this great little plastic container with a floppy lid?" As I thought about it, the Curious George song "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" was playing in my conscience. So, do I reuse or recycle it? Of course, I reuse it because I have a little baby that is growing and will want to play with it later, instead of his many toys that we have purchased for him (okay we really haven't purchased many toys because we have learned that babies like random things much better). So, what can you do with a Clorox Wipes container.......Oh so many things!

-Cut slits all around the container and put pictures or stickers of anything above them. Then, my friend offered the suggestion to use the tops to juice concentrate cans (or you can use milk lids, but the juice ones clink when you put them in and that is way more fun) and put the matching sticker onto the lid. You can teach any matching type skill with this new little toy. (you may need to cut the middle thing out of the lid so the kids can get the things out without having to take the whole lid off. Also, I recommend mod-podging whatever you put on the container and the lids because otherwise it won't last. You can also cover them in clear contact paper once you have it how you like it.

-You could do: animals and their home (Dan's suggestion), a colored shape and then an object from real life that is that shape (circle and ball or triangle and sail on a ship, you get the idea), identical shapes, identical colors, a splotch of a color and then something that is really that color (red and apple, etc..), identical numbers or letters of the alphabet, uppercase and lowercase letters, number and then a picture of that number of objects,pictures of people in different occupation outfits and then the hat they might wear, baby animals and their mommy animals.....so many other things,be creative.

-Use it instead of a potty chart. Let your kiddo put a lid through a slit every time they go potty and then when they have a certain amount they get to do something fun with mom or dad. You can use this for any type of chart, chores, good deeds, times they help mommy or when you catch them being extra nice.

-Use it as a counting toy. Decorate the lids like chocolate chip cookies (or money or really anything round) and decorate the container with scrapbook paper to make it look like a cookie jar (or piggy bank , or anything) and have your child draw a number from a hat and then count out that many cookies and drop them in. Then share a plate of real cookies.

-Decorate it with pictures of your child and mod-podge them on and let them put thier treasures inside.

-Sew a bunch of squares of different textured fabric together at one edge and put the whole thing inside and let your child pull the fabric through the hole in top like it was a wipe. Talk about the textures or just let them rub them on their faces.

-Make your own shape matching toy. Just use some blocks you have around that are different shapes. Trace the end of the shape on the container and cut it out. Let your kid find the right one and drop their blocks in. They will love it even more than a store bought one because they get to use their own blocks.

-If you have a park with a bridge and water around, cut a small hole in it and string some yarn or ribbon through the hole. Let them lower the container down and bring it back up full of water. Holy cow how they will love this.

-Use it as a beach toy, who needs buckets.

-Tie two of them together and then string ribbon through them so it looks like a jet pack and let your kid make up their own super hero and fly around the house all day.

Okay, so I could go on all day with things you could do, but so could you, I'm sure. Just be creative. There are lots of containers like this that are really fun. Oat containers are good, but just not as durable or water proof as the clorox wipe ones. So, next time you pull that last wipe out, don't you dare throw the container away. Save them up and you have free toys that are educational but your kid would never know it!!
